Born and raised in Taos, Richard graduated from Taos High School and later received his Bachelors degree from New Mexico State University. He worked as a personal banker in Albuquerque for a couple of years before returning to Taos to raise his family. Richard is married to Alysia; their children are son Santiago and daughter Santana.

Richard works as the Accounting Manager at Holy Cross Hospital and will earn his Master’s Degree in June 2008. Richard learned about the Foundation through his work at the hospital. In 2007 when he was asked to become treasurer, he quickly accepted the position. Through his asset management role at the hospital Richard has realized what an important role the Foundation plays in helping the hospital stay on top of its need for high quality medical equipment.

Richard enjoys spending time with his family taking advantage of all the outdoor activities that New Mexico and Colorado have to offer. He is an avid fly fisherman and, along with his wife, enjoys hiking all the gorgeous areas around Taos. One of his other hobbies is music. Richard played drums for many years in high school and college bands and later on took up the guitar. He currently performs off and on with local musician John Archuleta (his father) at weddings and community events.
